Go over the norms so they are understood and agreed upon by all<br \/>\n<h4>Communication Skills<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>When speaking, make eye contact with every member so all feel they are equally important.<\/li>\n<li>Express and model respect and encourage trust among members<\/li>\n<li>Body Language &#8211; Speaks louder than words. Is believed above words. If there is incongruity in body language\/speech, it must be called on or the level of trust of the group will be affected. \u201cYou are saying you are happy but I hear a note of sadness in your voice.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI\u201d Language &#8211; Don\u2019t speak in generalizations. \u201cEverybody thinks_________\u201d rather than \u201c I think____\u201d. This leaves room for differing opinions. It respects that others may feel differently and that their feelings are just as valid.<\/li>\n<li>Concrete Language &#8211; Be specific about your feelings. \u201cThe reading made me feel happy\u201d is not as concrete as \u201cBlessed are the peace makers made me feel happy because that is something I try to be to others\u201d<br \/>\n<h4><strong>Listening Skills &#8211; Active Listening\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>Concentrate on the speaker by listening with body language. Stay focused on speaker and face speaker.<\/li>\n<li>Reflect back what is being said by repeating the gist of it in your own words.<\/li>\n<li>Invite further response by asking an open ended question. \u201cHow did it feel?\u201d \u201cWhat did you think?\u201d<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nResearching Sources &amp;\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Creating Faith Sharing Questions Skills<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Faith Sharing Questions<\/li>\n<li>Speak to the heart and not the head<\/li>\n<li>Can not be answered with two words<br \/>\n<h4><strong>Group Dynamics<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>A person joining\/leaving the group changes the group<\/li>\n<li>Joining two groups together may not always be a good idea group norms have formed in both groups independently and may not be compatible<\/li>\n<li>Conflicts need to be addressed<\/li>\n<li>Differences of opinion are healthy and good for group<\/li>\n<li>If someone feels very strongly about something find out why<\/li>\n<li>Different personalities need to be respected.<br \/>\nLeave time for the introvert to jump in or send her the questions ahead of time<\/li>\n<li>Agreeing to norms can settle may problems. Offenders can be called back with \u201cRemember the norms we agreed upon?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Help people see that their presence is important to the group.
